AN EXTENSIVE STUDY WAS LAUNCHED IN 2009 IN THE SINGLE COOL-CLIMATE MICRO-TERROIR EXISTING IN THE VALLEY.
The project considered using a specific portion of land on high mountains to plant vineyards that would produce Premium quality wines. The 3-year study evaluated a number of aspects, including exposure to sunlight, hillside perspectives and slopes, and in-depth study of the type of soil.
The outcome: A multidisciplinary team consisting of one viticulturist specialized in vineyard micromanagement, a winemaker specialized in Premium wines, and a geologist specialized in terroir, determined the scope and type of plantation, and chose the grape varieties, clones, orientation, training, pruning, and irrigation systems, among other variables.
